Aldon Smith to the Raiders

First broken by Jason Cole via Twitter, Aldon Smith has signed with the Oakland Raiders. Smith is eligible to play at this time until he is shutdown by the league. According to Cole Smith also signed for up to $8 million dollars in roster incentives.

The key for a successful Aldon Smith in Oakland will be support from the Raiders organization in finding him help. He also supposedly chose to stay close to the Bay Area to continue his personal plan with his councilors and the rest of the support network he has build in the area.

I (Zach) wish Mr. Smith the best of luck in getting his NFL career on track, but more so in finding and living a happy personal life.

UPDATE 9/12

Via Rotoworld.com

As you can see above Smith can make $5.25 million for simply staying on the roster through this year. I would have been nice to see less money offered to a troubled young man with the emphasis on "This is your last shot". Throwing money at someone fighting addiction is typically a catalyst to fuel the addiction fire. Good luck to Aldon Smith. We will keep you up to date with any other details.
